Kwang-Ahn Grand Bridge Project

Location: Pusan, South Korea
Client: Chodai Corporation Ltd.

A 960-meter-long, 34-meter-wide, double-deck, self-anchored suspension bridge for highway traffic.

Located in the harbor city of Pusan, in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, the longest suspension bridge in South Korea was completed in September 2002. The Kwang Ahn Bridge, surrounded by numerous natural islands, connects the city with Pusan’s new harbor. The 7.5 km-long bridge system features an approximately 900-meter-long, two-story suspension bridge, divided into three sections (200m+500m+200m). Each section includes two 18-meter-wide bridge decks, providing four lanes of traffic in each direction to accommodate an expected daily traffic volume of 60,000 vehicles. The ocean depth beneath the bridge structure is approximately 12 meters.
